1. Hong Kong Episode Part 6 Tsim Sha Tsui
     Dining, Sightseeing and Shopping

              Monday, 2023/3/13

Tsim Sha Tsui, often abbreviated as TST, is an urban area in southern Kowloon, Hong Kong. Geographically, Tsim Sha Tsui is a cape on the tip of the Kowloon Peninsula pointing towards Victoria Harbour, opposite Central. The name Tsim Sha Tsui in Cantonese means sharp sandspit.

Tsim Sha Tsui is a major tourist hub in Hong Kong, with many high-end shops, bars, pubs and restaurants that cater to tourists. Many of Hong Kong's museums are located in the area.

Tourist hospitality is a major industry in Tsim Sha Tsui. The area has the highest concentration of hotels in Hong Kong. It is one of many places to find exotic restaurants in Hong Kong and one of the main shopping areas in Hong Kong.

The Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront is another popular destination for locals and tourists alike. It is especially popular for photographers, as it offers an unobstructed view of the Central area of Hong Kong across Victoria Harbour. Here, you can enjoy and experience special culture of Hong Kong. At the same time, you can feel the vibrant modern city life.

Star Ferry

Star Ferry Pier, Tsim Sha Tsui, or Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier, is a pier located on reclaimed land at the southernmost tip of Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. Star Ferry operates the pedestrian ferry service across Victoria Harbour to Wan Chai and to Central on Hong Kong Island.

When you ride the Star Ferry, you can see the scenery, rest and get refreshed, and cross over fast between the best areas of Victoria Harbour.

Discover this very popular way to cross the harbor and see the scenery. You'll have an 11-minute scenic voyage with a fresh breeze and rocking waves. You would need to experience it to know why tourists say it is one of the most enjoyable things to do in Hong Kong.

Best Western Hotel, where I was staying, was in Causeway Bay. I went to HSBC Headquarter in Central to do some banking early in the morning. After that, it was very convenient to ride the Star Ferry from Central Star Ferry Pier to TST Star Ferry Pier.

Victoria Harbour

Victoria Harbour is one of the most representative scenery spots of Hong Kong. It is a must visit for tourists.

In TST Kowloon side, the view of the skyline is very beautiful. You can see the most extraordinary high rise buildings; therefore, it is a good spot to take photos. In the morning and evening, the charms of Victoria Harbour are different. If you have time, take photos of Victoria Harbour in both times!

No matter how many times I have seen the Harbour,  I honestly admire the night view of Hong Kong with two sides of skyscrapers. Bright lights at night are extremely wonderful.
"A Symphony of Lights" will be performed in the Harbour at 8 pm every night. You should spare some time to watch and enjoy it.

The Clock Tower in TST seaside was built in 1915, and is one of the monuments of Hong Kong. The Clock Tower is 13.6 meters in height. There are clock faces in four sides. Every 15 minutes it will ring the bell once. Tourists can overlook the beautiful sceneries of Victoria Harbour from the observation deck of the Clock Tower.

I would fly to Singapore at 9 am tomorrow March 14. I did not have any appointment. So I went to Sogo in TST to buy Arena swimming briefs and goggles. However, it was closed down due to expiration of the lease. I just missed it.

I went to Harbour City Bazaar and learnt from there that the sole agent of Arena sales carried out promotion of the remaining stocks of Sogo TST. I went there and had a look. Finally, I bought a swimming brief and two goggles at big discounts.
