This exhibition places Tainan at the centre—a city “slowly curated” by history and faith. Within Taiwan’s oldest city, we gaze upon the overlapping generations: The bodies of elders store time, the roots of ancient trees extend into the earth, while faith, legends, and customs are the languages humanity creates to understand the world.
Mom & Her Motorcycle embodies the courage we practise in daily life—
She learned independence amid household chores and motorcycle rides. When facing the challenge of the “centipede parades”, culture became an experiment in confronting herself. For the next generation, independence is no longer the destination, but the first leap into the world.
Great Grandma’s Daily Calendar interprets longevity as a form of spiritual practice—
Over 102 years, she distilled love, resilience, and forgiveness, shaping her life into the form of a living bodhisattva. Funeral rites transformed into celebrations, faith became a gentle force. Thus, the calendar paper evolved into a shared language across generations: both an index of memories and a vessel for love.
The Squirrel and the Banyan Tree turned nature into the curator of life—
From the squirrel’s exploration to the banyan’s shelter, the shifting roles of mentor and adventurer unfold. Balance, rebirth, and renewal are no longer abstract religious concepts, but the stages of life each of us will inevitably encounter.

Brave the Wind
February 9 – March 9, 2026

The Brave the Wind lantern series features artists with South Asian ancestry, blending traditional storytelling with contemporary vibes. Queer Punjabi artist Jag Nagra returns to The Lantern City lineup, alongside illustrator Anu Chouhan and multidisciplinary artist Miles Saraswat. Each of their distinct styles harnesses the chaos within the winds of life—the vibrancy of human nature and the vitality of the animals we share the lands with. Through their artworks, we find new ways to brave the wind in this new year.
In these uncertain times, we draw courage from the Horse and strength in the beautiful diversity around us, to stride forwards into a brighter future together.
