2.6 Ottawa West

Ottawa West includes the central part of the former city of Nepean, Bell's Corners, Kanata, Crystal Beach, Cedarhill Estates, Parkwood Hills, Kanata Lakes, Morgan's Grant, Stittsville, and Richmond.


Westboro

Westboro, often referred to as Westboro Village, is an area in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located along the Ottawa River, Island Park Drive defines Westboro's eastern border, while the Ottawa River defines its northern border. The population of the area is 22,725 (2016 Census).

Its community association boundaries are the Transitway to the north, Tweedsmuir Avenue to the east, Carling Avenue to the south and Denbury Avenue to the west. This area excludes the neighbourhood of Westboro Beach, whose community association borders include the area immediately north of Westboro, west of Island Park Drive.

Nestled along the banks of the Ottawa River, Westboro is a vibrant neighbourhood that effortlessly blends urban chic with natural beauty. This trendy area is a haven for both locals and visitors, offering a unique mix of boutique shops, artisanal cafes, and lush green spaces. Its main thoroughfare, Richmond Road, is lined with an array of independent stores and eateries, making it a bustling hub of activity.

Westboro Beach

Westboro Beach, located on the Ottawa side of the historic Ottawa River, is a vibrant and accessible destination for all seasons. Westboro Beach offers new ways to enjoy the scenic shoreline.
The site features renovated pavilions, a year-round restaurant, a seasonal café, and a supervised swimming area. New additions also include riverfront lookouts, a playground, and outdoor showers.
In summer, you can enjoy a picnic, swim, rent water equipment or play volleyball. In winter, you can go sledding or ski, snowshoe, snow bike or hike on a multi-use winter pathway that leads directly to the pavilion.




Richmond Road 

Richmond Road begins as a western continuation of Wellington Street West in Ottawa, beyond the intersection at Island Park Drive, a division point moved west a few blocks from Western Avenue, the historical township boundary, in 2005. It serves as the primary road for Westboro. Continuing westward, the road passes by Ottawa landmarks such as Bayshore Shopping Centre and Queensway Carleton Hospital.





Carlingwood

Carlingwood is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is roughly bounded on the north by Richmond Road, on the east by Sherbourne Road, on the south by Carling Avenue and on the west by Woodroffe Avenue. This area corresponds to census tract 5050032.01, which had a population of 3,558 according to the Canada 2016 Census.
Carlingwood is home to two parks, Westwood and Woodroffe, the latter of which has a play structure, wading pool, and temporary hockey rink (in winter). Byron Linear Tramway Park is located nearby.

Carlingwood Shopping Centre is shopping mall located in the Carlingwood neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The mall opened in 1956 and was one of the city's first major shopping centres. Since May 2024, it has been operated by Anthem Properties Group.

Carlingwood Shopping Centre contains 100 stores and services on a single enclosed level. The mall houses a mix of chain and independent services including retail (Ardene, Dollarama, Rexall) food service (A&W, Subway, Tim Hortons) and banking (CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank) with Loblaws and Canadian Tire serving as the mall's anchor tenants.















Nepean

A large district comprising residential neighbourhoods, Nepean is bordered by the Ottawa River and waterfront green spaces. These include Andrew Haydon Park, with a bandshell and peaceful trails, and neighbouring Dick Bell Park, overlooking a marina. Depicting 1800s pioneer life, the Log Farm has animals to pet and maple syrup. The Bayshore Shopping Centre and Merivale Mall plaza feature chain fashion stores.

2.5 Ottawa West Centretown

Centretown West, also known as West Centretown or Dalhousie is a neighbourhood in Somerset Ward in central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is home to the city's Little Italy and Chinatown enclaves.

Hip Centretown West encompasses Chinatown and Little Italy, with wok joints, pizza parlors and other international restaurants serving pho, curry and tagine dishes. Brightly painted storefronts and murals enliven streets filled with trendy food trucks and bustling grocery shops.
