Denpasar

Denpasar is the capital city of the province of Bali, Indonesia. Denpasar is the main gateway to the Bali island, the city is also a hub for other cities in the Lesser Sunda Islands.
With the rapid growth of the tourism industry in Bali, Denpasar has encouraged and promoted business activities and ventures, contributing to it having the highest growth rate in Bali Province.
The Balinese words "den", meaning north, and "pasar", meaning market – indicates the city's origins as a market-town, on the site of what is now Kumbasari Market (formerly "Peken Payuk"), in the northern part of the modern city.

Bajra Sandhi Monument is a monument to the struggles of the Balinese people throughout history. The monument is located in front of the Bali Governor's Office in Denpasar, Indonesia, on the island of Bali. The monument was built in 1987, and inaugurated by President Megawati Sukarnoputri on June 14, 2003.

The monument is rectangular, and follows the architectural principles of the "Tri Mandala." It consists of three parts:
Utama Mandala, the main building in the center of the monument
Madya Mandala, the inner courtyard surrounding the Utama Mandala
Nista Mandala, the outer courtyard surrounding the Madya Mandala

The main building, the Utama Mandala, has three floors. The ground floor, Nistaning Utama Mandala, contains administrative rooms, a library, and exhibition halls. In the center of the ground floor is a lake called the Puser Tasik. The first floor, Madyaning Utama Mandala, contains 33 dioramas, similar to those in the National Monument in Jakarta, but with a focus on the struggles of the Balinese people. The dioramas cover various incidents in the history of the Balinese, including the Balinese kingdom, the introduction of Hinduism, the Majapahit era, Dutch colonialism, and the struggle for independence. The second floor is a meditative space which provides a panoramic view of Denpasar.

Bali Museum or also known as Bali Provincial State Museum is located on the east side of Puputan Square Denpasar. This place has several exhibition halls, each showcasing different varieties of historical data from the Mesolithic Age to the modern era. You will find vast collections of displays from paintings, artefacts and statues along with inscriptions. There are also weapons used in the bronze age of Bali, some religious relics and musical instruments.

The garden area is well taken care of, makes the visitors feel comfortable strolling around the museum area.

The original building was built in 1910 by Dutch citizens who cared deeply on preserving the ancient Balinese precious artefacts. On its journey, the museum has ever been wrecked due to an earthquake in 1917 and rebuilt in 1920. German artist Walter Spies also has done a lot, for the sake of this museum on its early age.

The museum area consists of the temple (puri) which divided into three sections kahyangan, pura, and merajan. The display area is divided into three buildings called Tabanan, Karangasem and Buleleng. Inside those buildings we can find artwork, ethnographic items, ancient texts (inscriptions), ceramics, porcelain statues, household appliances, agricultural tools, weapons, ceremonial tools, paintings, shadow puppets and so forth. Since early 2000, the Bali government has improved the museum by integrating few more pavilions, functioned as a library, reparations rooms (for broken artefacts), and also theatre.















Badung Market

Badung Market, or ‘Pasar Badung’ in the local tongue, is the largest traditional market in Denpasar, Bali. The market functions as the main source of fresh produce among Denpasar residents. Regular stalls open well before the break of dawn, with a daily flow of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers from suppliers in farming regions in the central highlands and elsewhere.

This central landmark in Denpasar is located on the eastern bank of the namesake Badung River, with the Kumbasari Art Market on the other side. The negotiable prices here can usually be a whole lot cheaper than in other markets in Bali, and the mandatory hard bargaining always adds to the shopping experience.

Stalls on the upper floors sell batiks and other fabrics, household items, kitchen utensils and farming tools. The lower levels are the most frequently visited, with vibrant rows of stalls selling fresh tropical fruits, flowers, meats and poultry, and other groceries.









Kumbasari Art Market

The Kumbasari Art Market is one of Denpasar’s central landmarks and is one of the city’s main sources of arts and handicrafts. The market is right across the Badung River from Badung Market and sells items that mostly come from the island’s various art-producing communities, like Ubud and other artistic communities in the central Bali highlands, while also featuring galleries by onsite painters and craftsmen.

Locally referred to as Pasar Kumbasari, the Kumbasari Art Market in central Denpasar sells mostly the same kind of goods you’ll find at any traditional market in Bali. Even so, the diverse selection of items available here will easily appeal to avid shoppers, especially with its bargain and wholesale prices.














Jagatnatha Temple

Bali Jagatnatha Temple is a beautiful Hindu temple situated in the center of Denpasar City that is the biggest Hindu temple in the capital city of Bali Province. Jagat natha Temple built in east of Puputan Badung square garden is a public shrine to worship for Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa (call for Hindu god). It is strategically located on Major Wisnu Street that is very easy reached from any directions as well as famous temple and appointed as a tourist destination in Denpasar City. 
Jagat natha Temple have many visited by the Hindu people especially during the Hindu Holiday season including full moon. It is a unique experience to see a temple in the city center with all its beauty and if you want to pray here, you can wear traditional Balinese clothes and buy offerings that can be purchased at the shop in front of the temple and a very unique experience to take a closer look at the Jaganatha temple which is located in the center of Denpasar city.


Sanur Beach

Sanur Beach is Bali’s oldest upscale resort area and a mature seaside town. Apart from the many restaurants and accommodations, the hotel has a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Generally more expensive than Kuta but cheaper than Seminyak. Sanur tends to be most attractive to middle-aged and elderly families, especially Europeans.

The Sanur area is sandwiched between Jalan Ngurah Rai bypass and the beach. One of the main routes called Jalan Danau Tamblingan runs from north to south through the city and is easy to set up yourself by referring to this road.

Sanur is a seaside town in the southeast of the island of Bali, in Indonesia. Its long stretch of beach offers shallow waters. Colorful jukung fishing boats rest on the sand, backed by a paved cycling path. The Pura Blanjong temple is built from coral and has inscriptions dating from the 10th century. The leafy main street Jalan Danau Tamblingan is lined with art galleries and restaurants.
